Olds College Brewery

The Olds College Brewery Retail Store sells cans, bottles, bombers, growlers and kegs. Our beers are also available at leading bars, restaurants, and liquor retailers across central Alberta! We produce all types of beer and train students in all beer styles, so we are constantly turning out new and creative seasonal brews in addition to our four ‘core’ brands.

As a social enterprise we are not profit driven. All revenue from beer sales goes toward supporting education and in doing so, the brewing industry.

Aggie Ale Beer Label

Aggie Ale

Dank and citrusy hops are backed by a toasty caramel malt body with hints of bread overtones. Aggie Ale is generously hopped with a blend of Pacific Northwest style hops throughout the brewing process to let you know what the students are all about. Pairs perfectly with a completed midterm patio.

Style: Pacific Northwest Amber Ale | ABV: 5.0% | IBU: 51 | SRM: 21

Olds Skhool Beer Label

Old Skhool

Full of rich, nutty, and toasty flavours, this American style brown ale has just the right balance of hop character to pique the interest and balance the malt complexity. Pairs perfectly with cold winter days while remaining light enough to spend some time on the summer patio.

Style: American Brown Ale | ABV: 5.4% | IBU: 36 | SRM: 38

Prairie Gold Beer Label

Prairie Gold

This Pacific Northwest-styled IPA combines a full, malty backbone to balance an aggressive hopping schedule. Caramel and light, bready flavours from the malts intermingle with the powerful citrus, resin, and tropical fruit character of the hops. An intensely hoppy beer elegantly balanced for quaff ability.

Style: India Pale Ale | ABV: 6.5% | IBU: 72 | SRM: 10

Limited Editions and Student Creations

The Student Craft Beer series allows students of the Craft Beverage and Brewery Operations Diploma to create and sell their very own beers. From the recipe, through the brewing process, to the naming and marketing of the beer, these beers are a product of the skill, determination, and imagination of our students. These beers are brewed in smaller batches, and as such are available in limited quantities.

 Seasonal Beers

Jean-Quad Van Damme

This complex, rich, smooth, yet dangerous Belgian-inspired Dark Strong Ale- also known as a Belgian Quad - is malty-sweet with prominent caramel and candy notes. Notes of cherry, plums, raisins, and other dark fruits mingle with light spicy phenols (think black pepper and subtle vanilla) to create levels of entanglement for your taste buds. Pour this sipper into a tulip glass and enjoy the legs on this beer.

Lowe Down

Made with 100% Lowe barley developed at the Field Crop Development Center (now part of Olds College) and malted at Red Shed, with Nugget and Cascade hops from Mountain View Hop Farms, this beer is light, bright, clean, crisp, and refreshing, showcasing all that Alberta can be.

Not Today Heifer

We all have one of THOSE days. Well not today. Today is for you. This classic German-style Hefeweizen has all those characteristic banana notes and clove undertones. Plus we added some chamomile to help you relax even further. So to anyone giving you grief today, you tell' em: "Not today heifer."

Olds Bourbon Barrel Ale

The copper coloured ale was aged in KOVAL bourbon barrels for more than 6 weeks. Smooth malt character with rich caramel and nutty notes intermingle with the vanilla, oak and bourbon flavors from the barrel ageing process. Not too heavy and easy-drinking enough for a warm summer afternoon while still rich enough as an after dinner treat.

Your Wish is Pomegranted

A mildly tart, hazy - but not hoppy- summer crusher that could also be enjoyable well into the autumn months. Saskatoon berry puree and pomegranate juice give this beer a sun-kissed glow with fruity over- and undertones. Originally brewed as the #BETHEBREWER 2021 contest in conjunction with Alberta Beer Festivals, this beer was brought back for the summer of 2023 to celebrate our new patio.

Saazquatch Lager

This Czech-style pils is a refined beast. While true to its style with fruity and floral tones and slightly grassy notes…it definitely has attitude. The subtle spiciness of this beer’s namesake Saaz hop complements its sweet and savoury malt character. Rarely seen, you don’t need to have big feet to know this beer is sure to become a legend!
